Joni's story, book 1 ch. 3

Chapter 3 As Amines last breath faded away Joni gave out a long wail of sorrow and pain. Marin jumped away with a hoarse crow, startled by the sudden outburst of emotion from his master. Several nocturnal animals fled the surrounding area as they heard the cry. For several long moments, all Joni could do was cry and cling to her lifeless body, her dark blood on his fingers and smeared on his tearful face, tears silently trailed down his face and into her hair, the hair that had looked like fire in the light of the rising sun one morning so long ago. In one of his hands he could feel the metal of the medallion she had given him from Dorgur.

Vacation

'Aaah, this is life!' Myra thought as she leaned back in the hammock she had hung up in her garden earlier that day. She had made lemonade and a sandwich, and taken one of her books with her out along with a table she had had made so that it's height could be adjusted as she had found that none of the premade tables were high enough or stable enough to stay put beside the hammock. Myra had gotten home late last night after her sister had invited her along to a society event and Myra had ended up at an after party with a fellow who she found entertaining, but probably thought he had a shot at something more than just her company for the night
